RCPRO Electric P-51 Racing - ObjectivesOne-design "Spec" racing classes have proven to be very popular in R/C pylon racing like RCPRO Club 40 Racing as well as many other forms of racing, especially classes like the Daytona Prototypes used in automobile racing. The P-51 has been used extensively in the Unlimited racing class at the Reno Air Races. Although they have been modified a lot, they still look like P-51 planes. The most common modification is replacement of the canopy with a smaller and sleeker canopy and turtle deck. The RCPRO Electric P-51 Racing class will use The World Models P-51 Mustang EP (model E194B) or The World Models Voodoo Mustang EP (model E230) in essentially stock form. The wing and stabilizer may not be modified. No additional sheeting may be used on the wing. The Voodoo canopy may be used to model the Reno P-51 racers. The stock belly pan will be required, even for planes like Stiletto and Color Tile that had it removed. The stock motor, The World Models part KM0283010 will be the official motor of this class. A maximum battery weight will be established. The recommended battery is a 3 cell 2100 mAh lithium polymer battery of 10-15C discharge rate. The stock folding propeller and spinner may be replaced with a standard spinner and a prop of the pilot's choice.
